The City of Weston is responsible for candidate filings for the General Municipal Elections held annually in April. All elected officials are considered non-partisan and serve two-year terms. There are two aldermen from each ward that serve staggered terms, and the mayor is elected at-large from the City of Weston.

Weston General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in April of each year and are conducted by the Platte County Board of Elections

Register to Vote
A resident who is at least 18 years or older may register to vote. You can register to vote at most public offices, including libraries, schools, city and county offices and the Department of Motor Vehicles. You may also get a postcard registration to mail in by submitting a Voter Registration Form or by filling out an online application.
Qualifications for Elective Office
The minimum qualifications set by State and City Laws are as follows.
Alderman
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must be U.S. citizen.
    • Must be resident of the ward from which elected.
    • Must be resident of Weston at least 1 year before election.
    • Must be a registered voter.
    • Must be current on all City taxes and fees, including business licenses and personal and real property taxes, before the close of filing for office.
Mayor
    • Must be at least 25 years of age.
    • Must be U.S. citizen.
    • Must be resident of Weston at the time of and at least 1 year before election.
    • Must be a registered voter.
    • Must be current on all City taxes and fees, including business licenses and personal and real property taxes, before the close of filing for office.
Filing for Candidacy for Elective Office
Filing for Elective Office begin sixteen Tuesdays prior to the April Election and conclude 11 Tuesdays prior to the April election. Declarations of Candidacy will be received by the City Clerk during that time at Weston City Hall during regular business hours. Names of candidates shall be listed on the ballot in the order in which they are filed. Qualified individuals must file in-person at City Hall and must provide proof of identity, such as a social security card, United States Passport, or Missouri Driver's License, at the time of filing.
